Nicole Tranquillo by Kelvin A. Ward

So you think that pop music is all about gimmicks, “the look” and no talent?  Well let me introduce to you Nicole Tranquillo, who has “the look” with a lot of talent but with no gimmicks (so refreshing…).

This Philly native is bringing something different to the pop world and I hope you guys are ready.  Nicole is a strong songwriter and she delivers the art of storytelling over danceable, fun, and energetic music.  Her voice has attitude, funk, and pizzazz all rolled up into a beautiful alto tone.  Her music capabilities don’t stop there… She is a classically trained pianist.  She plays the guitar. She’s a poet and a dancer. Nicole has performed and collaborated with many established artists and producers in the music industry.  She has opened up for The Roots and has worked with Grammy Award winning producer Devo Springsteen (Kanye West, John Legend, Common, Aretha Franklin).  Nicole is living the desires of her heart, where music lives.

When asked about overcoming difficulties in the music industry, Nicole responds…

“I think the most difficult thing to overcome in the industry is honestly yourself.  I think artists really battle themselves more than anyone in this industry.  I find that there’s a lot of headgames that you play with yourself.  There are so many great artists out there and often you think to yourself, “How can I stand out? What do I need to do?”  And you start to second-guess yourself and think that maybe you need to change everything about you that makes you you.  But truthfully, people want what’s real.  They want to relate to you and what you have to say.  So I think the biggest thing you have to overcome are those personal battles and struggles.  All those negative thoughts that run through your head, the self-doubts, the little things that you focus on you think is wrong with you…that’s what’s the hardest part.  The best thing to do is throw all that stuff out the window, surround yourself with positive friends and family and a great support system, and be creative!  Do what you do!”

See… no gimmicks!
